DDR5 RAM, as used in this laptop, is the latest RAM version, the pervious version DDR4 was used since 2014 - the main difference is speed. DDR5 RAM offers much increased speeds (5500 in this particular laptop) over is predecessor and also offers much greater bandwidth, meaning it can process much more data, much more quickly. This means that 8GB of DDR5 is much more capable than 8GB of DDR4 - in this case, it is about 70% faster and more efficient, negating the need to wonder if 8GB will be enough, for most users, it is plenty.
